QA/QC Architect
Shea is seeking a Quality Control Architect/Specification Writer with 25+ years of experience to join our dynamic Minneapolis design firm.
The Role:
As a QA/QC Architect, you’ll lead the quality assurance and quality control processes for Shea’s architectural projects, ensuring Shea’s commitment to high-quality designs and execution. You’ll provide quality management reviews and technical guidance throughout all project phases, including review and redlining of construction documents, shop drawings, change orders, etc., verifying consistency, quality, and timeliness throughout. In your role, you’ll also serve as a resource to our team during the preparation of technical drawings by providing code, material and system constructability knowledge and analysis as needed.
This position has the opportunity for flexible working hours.
Key Responsibilities:
– Provide thorough reviews of construction documents for adherence to Shea Standards, constructability, and code compliance.
– Conduct initial reviews of conceptual plans for code and accessibility compliance.
– Provide code analysis (municipal, state, IBC and ADA) and maintain up to date knowledge of evolving codes.
– Assemble and edit Project Manuals for issuance with construction documents.
– Develop and improve Shea Master Specifications including specialized content for project type or regional conditions as well as sustainable content.
– Act as an expert resource for our internal team throughout the architectural design process.
What We’re Looking For:
– Strong knowledge of architectural design, building systems, engineering coordination, products, construction methodology, material application and constructability.
– Strong knowledge of construction procedures and schedules.
– Advanced knowledge of the QA/QC process.
– Advanced knowledge of building codes and ability to research and apply/incorporate into technical documents.
– Ability to produce a well-coordinated, detail-oriented, fully integrated Project Manual.
– Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and produce results within deadlines.
