Clarence (“Cap”) Wigington (1883-1967), was the first African American municipal architect in the United States and the first licensed African American architect in Minnesota.

We’d love for you to join us as we celebrate Cap Wigington, current and past MAF Wigington scholars, all of the generous donors, and this spectacular community!

The Bridge the Gap campaign was a success because of the generous donation, your support, and this amazing community. Your financial contribution has helped. Come celebrate your contributions with fellow donors, board members, scholarship recipients, and more!

The MAF received an unexpected and deeply generous commitment from an anonymous donor to provide a $50,000 donation to the Wigington Fund, if fundraising of new dollars from others can match this amount. WE DID IT!

Created in 1992, this fund named to recognize Clarence “Cap” Wigington, the extraordinary professional and civic accomplishments of the first African American municipal architect in the United States and the first licensed African American architect in Minnesota. The Wigington Fund supports students of color who have a specific interest in pursuing a professional architecture degree leading toward becoming a registered architect. Minnesota Architectural Foundation’s Clarence Wigington Architectural Scholarship
