The Minneapolis-Saint Paul Airport has consistently been named the Best Airport in North America, with top marks coming from customer experience. Join AIA St. Paul for this two-part tour with the first portion lead by Alliiance (Architect), Michaud Cooley Erickson (MEP Engineer), and Meyer Borgman Johnson (Structural Engineer), in coordination with the Airport Development team at the Metropolitan Airports Commission and will discuss programming through post-construction evaluation of Terminal 1 Arrivals and Departures projects.

This program will highlight the improvements made throughout the ticketing and baggage claim areas of a passenger’s experience, as well as operational benefits for the airport’s facilities and trades teams, and the tenants. These aspects will be explored through all elements of the design process including architectural, structural, mechanical, and lighting solutions to the project’s constraints and opportunities. Additional elements that will be described include universal design, emerging technologies, sustainability, longevity and maintainability. Lastly, the construction phasing solution will be summarized, as to how the work was accomplished while maintaining a fully operational terminal.

The second portion of the tour will feature several projects inside the facility and will require attendees to pass through airport security.
