Doors Open Minneapolis is a weekend-long event that allows the public free, behind-the-scenes access to buildings in the city of Minneapolis that are architecturally, culturally, or socially significant. The inaugural event will take place May 18–19, 2019 and will feature over 115 venues.
AIA Minnesota is sponsoring two special events, put on in collaboration with Juxtaposition Arts, Twin Cities Public Television, and Mill City Museum, during Doors Open at Mill City Museum.
From 10:00 am-2:30 pm on both days in the Rail Corridor, explore the 21st Century Development framework in an accessible, family-friendly, hands-on activity developed by Juxtaposition Arts, designing cities inspired by childhood memories.
From 10:30 am-4:30 pm on both days, stop in the West Engine House Theater to view highlights of Twin Cities PBS Minnesota Experience films, selected by AIA Minnesota staff and Jim Crow of the North director Daniel Bergin to shed light on Minneapolis’s complex history relating to the built environment.
