Description

Advanced Energy Codes Technical Manager

Join Our Dynamic Market Transformation Team

We are looking for someone to manage the technical aspects of our Energy Codes Program, within our Market Transformation department. Our team is working closely with the State on their goal to dramatically increase the energy efficiency of new buildings over the next 15 years, through changes to the state energy code, and increases in code compliance. You would both carry out and direct others in the technical aspects of this work, including identifying new technologies and approaches to incorporate into the code, and research and analysis to evaluate these new technologies and approaches. You would also help create educational and training material to help code officials understand and enforce code changes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building science, demonstrated experience in managing technical projects, and experience with energy efficiency in commercial buildings. Specific experience with energy codes is desired but not required.

Who We Are
Center for Energy and Environment (CEE) is a clean energy nonprofit with offices in the North Loop of Minneapolis and St. Paul. We provide practical energy solutions for homes, businesses, and communities that cut energy waste and harmful emissions. We collaborate regularly with field peers and partners, and we employ curious people who enjoy learning and contributing to the Midwest’s quality of life and economy. Recognized as one of Minnesota’s top 200 workplaces by the Star Tribune, CEE is known for its open communication, respect for diverse perspectives, and commitment to work-life balance. CEE launched the Minnesota Advanced Energy Codes Partnership in 2024 to help implement Minnesota’s Climate Action Framework, which calls for new commercial and multifamily buildings to achieve net zero energy use by 2036, achieve significant energy and emissions reductions in existing buildings, and similarly aggressive goals for the residential energy code. The Partnership is led by CEE, funded by the Department of Energy and sponsored jointly by the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry and the Minnesota Department of Commerce.
