Title: EBE Experiential Assessment & Tour

Date: Friday, September 20, 2024

Time: 3:30-5pm

Location: Loring Park (Details of meeting location within Loring Park to be shared prior to the event)

The Committee on Equity in the Built Environment (EBE) invites you to participate in an experiential tour and discussion. We will convene at one of Minneapolis’ iconic parks, Loring Park, to conduct an observational assessment of how both private and public spaces perform as equitable environments – are they welcoming, and do they provide equitable access for all? What are the key attributes of equitable space? Using assessment tools provided by the EBE committee, you will have an opportunity to look at space not only from your own experiential point of view but also to share and learn from the points of view of others.

After our tour, we will convene at a location nearby for beverages and conversation about insights and observations on how we as designers can provide more equitable places.

Participants will learn observational and assessment techniques geared toward equity and inclusion to inform design work by focusing on inclusivity and community safety. Participants will also learn how built elements can encourage equitable access to public spaces and amenities, supporting community well-being.
