Program description
This is a two-evening class on April 21 and 27 for those preparing to take the 4.0 Architecture Registration Exam.
The format of this class is intended to be interactive. Each of the two sessions will be a combo of quiz questions and vignettes. Registrants will receive material in advance of the class to review and to prepare for class participation.
The first evening will provide an introduction to the vignettes but will primarily cover topics such as safety, economy, practicality, durability, and architectural expression of modern building materials and methods. Also included are construction methods, specifications, and potential defects.
The second evening will cover the vignettes for this section of the exam in greater depth – Accessibility/Ramp, Roof Plan, and Stair Design.

Instructors
Eric Amel, AIA, has more than 25 years’ experience. Currently an architect at the firm of Meyer Scherer & Rockcastle, he was previously with HGA for 11 years. He’s been an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota since 2005. Also in 2005, Eric received the prestigious Ralph Rapson Traveling Study Fellowship.
Daniel Green, AIA, has been with Miller Dunwiddie Architecture since 2001. He received the AIA Minnesota Young Architects Award in 2012. Dan has been a member, including the chair, of the AIA Minnesota Convention Programs Committee for more than 8 years. He’s been active as a mentor for the U of M College of Design Mentor Program.
