MINNEAPOLIS, September 28, 2017 — AIA Minnesota honored Gayla Lindt, Assoc. AIA, and Streeter & Associates with 2017 Special Awards.
The AIA Minnesota Special Award seeks to encourage, stimulate and recognize exceptional contributions made by individuals and organizations that improve the quality of our physical environment. This award celebrates architecture as a collaborative effort that relies on the talents and commitment of many individuals working together to achieve common goals.
Gayla Lindt is a Lecturer in Architecture and Director of the Bachelor of Design in Architecture at the University of Minnesota. Nominated for her contributions in the education category, Ms. Lindt is highly respected by her colleagues and students, and advocates for vibrant communities and historic buildings.
Streeter & Associates is a premier Twin Cities residential building company. Nominated for their contributions in the contractor category, Streeter regularly executes peerless craftsmanship of architectural vision in the residential sector, partnering with architects to bring creativity to life, from the biggest element to the smallest detail.
The AIA Minnesota Special Award jury included representatives from a host of AIA Minnesota committees and award winners. This year’s submissions were reviewed by Amy Douma, AIA, Design Principal, HGA Architects and Engineers; Nathan Johnson, AIA, Firm Principal, 4RM+ULA, President-Elect of AIA Minnesota; Edward J. Kodet, Jr., FAIA, Principal-in-Charge, Lead Designer, Kodet Architectural Group, Ltd.; and Christopher Strom, AIA, Principal, Christopher Strom Architects.
The jury emphasized the role Lindt’s work plays in advancing the mission of the University of Minnesota College of Design, and how it connects the academic and professional architecture communities. They also wish to honor her mentorship and connection with students, the future of the profession.
The jurors noted Streeter & Associates’ unparalleled attention to detail and ability to build with a wide range of materials and styles, which has made them a preferred collaborator as an architectural builder for custom homes, renovations, condominiums and commercial interiors.
Lindt and the Streeter & Associates team will receive their awards at the annual AIA Minnesota Awards Dinner on December 8, 2017 at International Market Square in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Learn more about the Special Award here.
