Member Engagement Committee

The Member Engagement Committee plans regular opportunities for members to network, learn, and celebrate each other’s work. Activities include the Merit Awards program, Minneapolis Preservation Awards, a golf outing that raises significant funds for the Minnesota Architectural Foundation, and the Annual Meeting held as part of the AIA Minnesota Annual Conference.

Special Projects

AIA Minneapolis is currently partnered with the University of Minnesota’s College of Design — specifically the MS-ARP program of the School of Architecture — and the AIA Minnesota Housing Advocacy Committee on a research project to more comprehensively and specifically define excellence in the design of affordable housing. Research findings are expected to be shared in Summer/Fall of 2025 and to inform a new Community of Practice for Excellence in Design of Affordable Housing (COPEDAH) and the biennial Affordable Housing Design Awards Program, both of which are made possible through funding from The McKnight Foundation.

The AIA Minneapolis Board of Directors is also exploring several potential new programs to further the mission impact of the chapter, in service to the profession and/or the broader public. The selection and announcement of new programming is anticipated for Summer/Fall of 2025.
