BIM Breakfast Club June 2010 Update:

On May 19th the members of the BIM Breakfast Club saw firsthand how 3D digital models are moved through the fabrication process to manufacture Mechanical components. The group met at Harris Mechanical’s St. Paul office where Chris Ehly and Greg Greene demonstrated the software used to detail mechanical systems. At the conclusion of the presentation they packaged the digital files and transferred them via internet to the fabrication facility.

The group then boarded a motor coach provided by Harris to transport the group to their Midwest Fabrication & Supply facility in Zumbrota. Jim Bushey, the plant manager, met the group and gave them a tour of the plant. While in transportation to Zumbrota Rick Bremer and Mike Nelson were busy processing the digital files sent ahead of the group so the BBC could see the information take its final form.

Special thank you to Harris Mechanical for their generosity and sharing with the BBC the process from beginning to end of digital information becoming a physical form.
