||As a Senior Project Designer at UrbanWorks Architecture LLC, you will experience an entrepreneurial drive and collaborative energy within our studio that compliments your passion for exceptional design.
We’re a small firm (you will be one of three senior designers) with a strong belief in the connection between great buildings, great urban places and great returns – and our work continually delivers on these beliefs. We offer a solid reputation and commitment to the urban infill and multi-housing sectors, yet value diversification and will strategically diversify in other markets. We’re a talented group who work hard, but we’re not about burning the midnight oil. We are recognized for our creativity and valued for our design capabilities and the high level of quality delivered throughout each project milestone. We believe technology should be leveraged and we make bold investments that allow us to work smarter for our clients.
The Senior Project Designer we’re looking for:
You add significant value in the early stages of project feasibility by helping clients define a program, choose the site, and establish best uses.
You value integrated, high-performance design that bridges both efficiency and innovation. You can quickly take a site plan and a program, factor in all the key components, and build the design intelligently.
You are solid when it comes to establishing a project vision and maintaining momentum throughout the design and construction process. Users, owners, and project participants are all integral team members throughout the entire project.
You are on track to be an owner. You've been recognized over time for your critical thinking, business acumen, and sound judgment not only in your work, but the impact it has to the overall business.
You have always considered yourself a bit entrepreneurial. You have a fundamental curiosity and are open to exploring things – especially better ways to do things. You're innovative and not afraid to take reasonable risks. You're persistent. You bring realistic ideas to the table, and push yourself and others to think outside the box.
As a Senior Project Designer at UrbanWorks, you’ll:
Continually deliver outstanding buildings – you clearly understand the magic formula of function, performance, proportion, operations, economics, and constraints. You define program requirements and establish design parameters based on client requirements and collaboration with the project architect and project manager.
Manage the design process throughout the entire project, typically multiple projects at a time. Build strong working relationships and effectively lead technical staff. And, at times you'll contribute to the work of our other senior designers.
Bring your keen eye for details in managing the project team members during the implementation of design to ensure clarity and integrity of the concept is maintained.
Leverage technology to work smarter. You bring experience using Revit for building design and documentation. Working for a firm fully committed to leveraging software across all phases of our work has you feeling right at home.
A few more key requirements:
You are an experienced project designer. You possess around 10 solid years of proven experience (and references who can speak to that) and have successfully managed all aspects of project design. You bring a portfolio of experience in multi-housing and have experience across multiple facets including senior, student, market rate, and affordable housing. You also strive to keep it fresh.
Your focus is on urban infill. You bring a proven track record of outstanding design that builds stronger communities and better utilizes existing spaces. You intrinsically get excited about the multifamily sector and understand the work pace developers demand.
Your colleagues value you. You have exemplary people skills – you understand leverage and believe that great accomplishments cannot be achieved alone. You’re talented. You exude confidence when it comes to your work, yet you don’t take yourself too seriously. You have always been a terrific collaborator and value the perspectives of staff, partners, and the like.
Your clients love you. You value the relationship side of doing the work. Clients immediately connect with you and learn to trust that they’re your number one priority.
You are a constant learner & contributor. Continuing education and learning is a lifelong endeavor. But it doesn’t stop with you. You share your knowledge and contribute to the individual growth of staff around you. You are comfortable guiding them throughout your practice and helping shape their talents into successful careers.
At first glance, there’s strong alignment.
You’re excited. This role was written for you and you meet the qualifications we are seeking. We’ll be excited to receive your cover letter along with your resume amplifying your interest and achievements at firstname.lastname@example.org.
