Non-Profit Organizations to Receive Design Assistance at 24th Annual Search For Shelter Design Charrette, February 12-14
The purpose of this weekend event is to give preliminary design assistance to nonprofit organizations whose mission is to provide housing for people who are disadvantaged, homeless, low-income or seeking safety. Building projects submitted by these organizations, which lack the funds to hire an architect, are given a weekend of intense planning and development by volunteer multi-disciplinary design teams. The resulting product of each team is a set of graphic ideas and plans (shown above), which become a visual tool for the non-profit organization to use to acquire funding, educate others about their cause, or serve as preliminary building plans.
